Lecture Abstract:
Cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) is a significant factor contributing to cognitive decline. Genetics and traditional vascular disease risk factors explain a small portion of the etiology of CSVD; therefore, identifying other pathogenic mechanisms of CSVD remains an important research direction. Blood pressure variability (BPV) and cerebral autoregulation (CA) affect cerebral blood flow stability and are also risk factors for CSVD and cognitive impairment, but literatures on these topic is limited. This report will discuss the interaction between BPV and CA and its impact on CSVD and cognitive function.
